I have to tell you – I am SO glad that fall is finally here!
In our little corner of the southeastern United States, the rain stopped at the end of June and things withered pitifully until the end of September when hurricane Helene roared through, soaking us with her foot of rain and her 100 mph winds.
We typically see enough rain to keep all the plants and animals happy and healthy during the year. The only question is whether we will get the rain in small, occasional showers or all at once in a deluge!
As I write this, on the second week of November, it’s one of those rainy fall days, where blustery winds carry leaves all over. It’s cool enough to have a fire burning in the fireplace, and instead of doing chores insode or out I’ve opted to curl up in a cozy chair with a good book.
These days are made for enjoying life like that.
The rest of the week promises to stay cool, but sunny. The camellias have begun to bloom. The roses are still blooming as well. And the trees are showing off their orange and yellows brilliantly.
